VUSA Staff are more than just coaches and teachers to the children. Many of the VUSA participants live in difficult circumstances and the ongoing exposure to crime, anti-social behaviour and poverty, results in toxic stress. Studies have shown that early access to trustworthy adults is the best way to address this. VUSA coaches all reside in the community. They know the children, their circumstances and their challenges and offer the children a safe space each afternoon.
